This open-pit mine, operated at the time by Rio Tinto Mining, produces some two million tons of iron ore every year.

The owners and local authorities were concerned about the impact on the environment, and commissioned Verdant Horticulture to advise on the restoration of the native forest. We also advised on important local plants that could be reintroduced into the local area.
